A Little Bit o’ History……

In the 1930’s Patricia Lake was chosen as a secret location for the project known as project “Habakukk”. This project was the vision of Winston Churchill who wanted to build an icebarge that would allow planes to land and refuel .

When the war ended the prototype barge was sunk in Patricia Lake… never reaching its final completion. It’s wreck still remains deep at the bottom of the Lake offering scubadivers a unique look into the past. Vacant, the area around Patricia Lake became an autocamp for travellers and campers. The original owners and builders of Patricia Lake Bungalows, the Hoog family, purchased the leasehold from Parks Canada in the mid 50's and built what you now see as the cottages here at Patricia Lake. In 1966 the D’Heer family purchased the bungalows from the Hoogs and it now provides a home for the third generation of the D’Heers. In the early years the lake was stocked with rainbow and brook trout offering a wonderful fishing experience for those who chose to cast a line.


The Cabins

The cottages of Patricia Lake are 38 in number, most equipped with kitchens and fireplaces. Each cottage having its own charm and unique setting, so no one goes home disappointed!

The cabins are renovated and refurbished on a regular basis to maintain the highest of industry standards.

For your convenience we have an on-site Laundromat, bicycle rentals, boat rentals, bar-b-ques for outdoor dining, open fire area, outdoor hot-tub, and of course playground facilities for our younger guests!
